About ALP Online

We are still the same Adult Literacy Program that you know from the Kennett Library.  We designed the ALP Online website to continue to serve our community, even during the coronavirus pandemic, when many things we do must be virtual.  Although we cannot hold our in-person classes and in-person meetings with tutors, we want ALP Online to engage our students with videos, discussion forums, conversation exercises, and more.  You can still visit our original site at the Kennett Library at https://kennettlibrary.org/adultliteracy/.

Our

Program

We are a non-profit organization with a goal of improving the literacy and English-speaking abilities of adults in our community.  Our online offerings began as a way to continue to serve our community during the coronavirus pandemic.

Our
Students

We serve adults in Kennett Square, West Grove, Oxford, and surrounding communities.  Since 1979, we have served students from 55 different countries, representing 5 continents.

Our
Mission

We seek to provide free educational instruction to community adults and to improve the literacy to levels of proficiency necessary to function on the job, in the family and in society.

Our Teachers

Our dedicated teachers strive to help each and every one of our students learning English or preparing for testing for the General Equivalency Diploma or American citizenship.  Our volunteer tutors provide extra one-on-one practice and study.
